QuAlSi5 TIG Welding Wire – Aluminium AlSi5 / ER4043 (3.2245)
QuAlSi5 TIG Welding Wire – Aluminium AlSi5 / ER4043 (3.2245)
QuAlSi5 is the aluminium filler metal to EN ISO 18273 S Al 4043A (AlSi5(A)) · AWS SFA-5.10 ER4043 · material no. 3.2245. The silicon content of 5 % lowers the melting point and improves the flow of the weld metal — the classic choice for low-alloyed AlSi materials and wherever two different aluminium alloys meet.
The wire is crack-resistant and easy to handle. The seam stays soft (Rm 120 MPa, A 8 %) and is therefore easy to rework. It does, however, remain visible after anodising — that is not what QuAlSi5 is made for.
Recommended base materials
- Aluminium-silicon alloys up to 5 % Si
- Dissimilar aluminium alloys to each other
- Joint and build-up welding alike
Typical applications
- Repairs to aluminium die castings and cast parts with low silicon content
- Joints between different aluminium alloys
- Build-ups and contour corrections on aluminium tooling
- Filling defects and cavities in aluminium components
Properties and advantages
- Good flow characteristics thanks to 5 % silicon — the classic for AlSi materials
- Crack-resistant, also on dissimilar joints
- Weld metal: Re 40 MPa · Rm 120 MPa · A 8 %
- Shielding gas argon; post-processing material-typical
TIG advantage: For larger aluminium repairs away from the laser — Ø 1.0–3.2 mm, considerably higher deposition per layer.
TIG form: for manual repair welding.
