QuAlSi12 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Aluminium AlSi12 / ER4047 (3.2585)
QuAlSi12 is the aluminium filler metal with the highest silicon content of the range: EN ISO 18273 S Al 4047A (AlSi12(A)) · AWS SFA-5.10 ER4047A · material no. 3.2585. At 12 % silicon it sits close to the eutectic point — giving it the lowest melting point and the best flow of all AlSi wires and the narrowest solidification range.
That is precisely why QuAlSi12 is the wire for difficult cases: thin-walled castings, gaps that have to be bridged, and dissimilar aluminium alloys where other fillers tend to hot-crack.
Recommended base materials
- Aluminium-silicon alloys up to 12 % Si
- Dissimilar aluminium alloys to each other
- Joint and build-up welding
Typical applications
- Repairs to thin-walled aluminium die castings
- Gap bridging — the narrow solidification range helps
- Joints between different aluminium alloys
- Cases where AlSi5 or AlSi10 tend to hot-crack
Properties and advantages
- Best flow of the AlSi range — near-eutectic, lowest melting point
- Hot-crack resistant thanks to the narrow solidification range
- Weld metal: Re 60 MPa · Rm 130 MPa · A 6 %
- Shielding gas argon; post-processing material-typical
Rod form advantage: Ideal for manual build-up welding with constant wire feed — also in hard-to-reach areas.
Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,8 mm.
