QuFe55 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Stainless 1.4551 / ER347Si – Nb-Stabilised, Heat Resistant

QuFe55 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Stainless 1.4551 / ER347Si – Nb-Stabilised, Heat Resistant

QuFe55 is the niobium-stabilised 18/8 austenite for apparatus and piping construction: 1.4551 · ER347Si (19 9 Nb Si).

The difference from ER308LSi is the niobium: it ties up the carbon as niobium carbide before chromium carbide can form. The weld metal therefore stays resistant to intergranular corrosion even under prolonged heat — which is why stabilised austenites are used wherever the plant runs hot in service, not just during welding.

Recommended base materials

  • 1.4301, 1.4303, 1.4306 — austenitic CrNi standard grades
  • 1.4310, 1.4319 — high-strength CrNi spring steels
  • 1.4541 — X6CrNiTi18-10 / AISI 321 (Ti-stabilized)
  • 1.4550, 1.4552 — X6CrNiNb18-10 / AISI 347 (Nb-stabilized)

Typical applications

  • Apparatus and piping construction
  • Plants with elevated operating temperature
  • Components in stabilised CrNi steels (1.4541, 1.4550)
  • Repair welding without solution annealing

Advantages of 1.4551 / ER347Si

  • Niobium stabilization prevents intergranular corrosion at weld seams
  • Stainless, IGC-resistant in wet corrosion up to 400 °C
  • Weldable without subsequent solution annealing
  • Weld metal: yield 390 MPa, tensile 590 MPa, elongation 30 %

Rod form advantage: Ideal for manual build-up welding with constant wire feed — also for repair sites that are hard to access on instruments and apparatus.

Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,8 mm.
