QuMed4316 TIG Welding Wire – Stainless 1.4316 / ER308LSi (19 9 L Si)
QuMed4316 TIG Welding Wire – Stainless 1.4316 / ER308LSi (19 9 L Si)
QuMed4316 is the standard austenite for the classic 18/8 CrNi steels: EN ISO 14343-A G/W 19 9 L Si · AWS SFA-5.9 ER308LSi (filler material no.: 1.4316). The L stands for low carbon (C 0.02 %), the Si for the raised silicon content that improves the flow of the seam.
The low carbon content is the key: it prevents chromium carbides forming at the grain boundaries and thus makes the weld metal resistant to intercrystalline corrosion. On top of that comes cryogenic toughness down to −196 °C.
Recommended base materials
- 1.4301, 1.4306, 1.4311 — the classic 18/8 CrNi(N) steels
- 1.4319, 1.4541, 1.4550, 1.4551, 1.4552 — stabilised variants
- Cryogenic austenitic CrNi steels and cast steel
Typical applications
- Components and devices in medical technology
- Food industry — vessels, pipes, fittings
- Oil, soap, synthetic fibre, film and photographic industries
- Corrosion-resistant build-ups (wet corrosion up to 350 °C)
- Cryogenic components down to −196 °C
Properties and advantages
- Resistant to intercrystalline corrosion thanks to low carbon content (C 0.02 %)
- Cryogenic to −196 °C, stainless
- Raised Si content for better seam flow and clean seam edges
- Weld metal: Re 315 MPa · Rm 540 MPa · A 35 %
TIG advantage: For larger repairs away from the laser — Ø 1.0–2.0 mm, considerably higher deposition per layer.
TIG form: for manual repair welding.
