Qu4550 Rod – Stainless Steel Laser Welding Wire 1.4550 (X6CrNiNb18-10 / AISI 347)
Qu4550 is a niobium-stabilized stainless steel laser welding wire to DIN EN 10028-7 for apparatus, vessel and pressure-vessel construction. Thanks to niobium stabilization, the material 1.4550 (X6CrNiNb18-10 / AISI 347) stays reliably resistant to intergranular corrosion even after welding — subsequent solution annealing is not required.
Recommended base materials
- 1.4550 — X6CrNiNb18-10 / AISI 347 (primary material)
- 1.4551 — Nb-stabilized CrNi austenite (identical type)
- 1.4541 — X6CrNiTi18-10 / AISI 321 (Ti-stabilized, closely related)
Typical applications
- Apparatus, vessel and pressure-vessel construction (DIN EN 10028-7)
- Furnace, heating and heat exchanger construction
- Exhaust systems and high-temperature components
- Components under thermal cyclic load
- Repair welding on similar stainless steels
Advantages of 1.4550
- Niobium stabilization prevents intergranular corrosion at weld seams
- Resistant even after welding — no solution annealing required
- Heat-resistant austenite for furnace and plant construction
- Weld metal: yield 205 MPa, tensile 520 MPa, elongation 35 %
Rod form advantage: Ideal for manual build-up welding with constant wire feed — also for repair sites that are hard to access on heat-resistant components.
Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,3 mm – 0,6 mm.
