QuFe31 TIG Welding Wire – Hardfacing 54–60 HRC, Abrasion-Resistant
QuFe31 TIG Welding Wire – Hardfacing 54–60 HRC, Abrasion-Resistant
QuFe31 is the abrasion-resistant hardfacing wire: EN 14700 S Fe 3 · DIN 8555 W/MSG 3-GZ-60 · filler material no. 1.2606. The weld metal reaches 54–60 HRC.
The datasheet explicitly places it next to QuFe30: against abrasive wear this wire is the more resistant of the two, thanks to the additional tungsten (1.3 %). Add to that high edge stability under impact, which is why it is also used on plastic moulds with heavy edge wear. Important: the weld metal is not etchable — where the surface is later photo-etched or textured, this is the wrong choice.
Recommended base materials
- 1.2379, 1.2080, 1.2436 (cold-work steels)
- 1.2363, 1.2601
- 1.2343, 1.2767 and similar
- Plastic moulds with increased edge wear
Typical applications
- Hardfacing on cold- and hot-work tools
- Tools subject to abrasive wear
- Cutting edges under impact load
- Plastic moulds with edge wear
Properties and advantages
- 54–60 HRC — depending on machining and welding layer
- More resistant to abrasive wear than QuFe30 (W 1.3 %)
- High edge stability under impact load
- Grindable, polishable, chrome-platable to a limited extent, hardenable — not etchable
TIG advantage: For larger hardfacing areas. Ø 1.0 mm.
TIG form: for manual repair welding.
