QuFe52 Bobbin – Laser Welding Wire ER309LSi / 1.4332 (23 12 L Si) – Dissimilar Joints
QuFe52 is the classic wire for dissimilar (black-and-white) joints: EN ISO 14343-A W/G 23 12 L Si · AWS A5.9 ER309LSi · filler material no. 1.4332.
Its high alloy content (Cr 23 % / Ni 13.5 %) is not an end in itself: it is the reserve that gets diluted when the carbon steel melts in. A regular 18/8 wire would lose its austenitic safety margin here and harden — ER309LSi keeps its microstructure. That is why it is the standard for cladding on unalloyed and low-alloy backing steels and for joining stainless to carbon steel. Low-carbon (C 0.02 %) and therefore resistant to intergranular corrosion, usable up to 350 °C.
Recommended base materials
- 1.4306, 1.4401, 1.4404
- 1.4541, 1.4550, 1.4571, 1.4580
- each in combination with carbon steels
- Cladding on unalloyed and low-alloy backing steels
Typical applications
- Dissimilar joints — stainless to carbon steel
- Cladding welds on backing steels
- Chemical plant and vessel construction up to 350 °C
- Buffer layer beneath matching stainless cap passes
Properties and advantages
- Cr 23 % / Ni 13.5 % — alloy reserve against dilution by the carbon steel
- Low-carbon (C 0.02 %) → resistant to intergranular corrosion
- Usable up to 350 °C (wet corrosion)
- Weld metal: Re 430 MPa · Rm 600 MPa · A 31 %
Bobbin form: K125, K250, K80, MA125, SH253 — wire weight 100 g–500 g, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,6 mm.
