QuAlMg4,5Mn is the strongest wire of the AlMg range: EN ISO 18273 S Al 5183 (AlMg4.5Mn) · AWS SFA-5.10 ER5183 · material no. 3.3548. Alongside 4.8 % magnesium it contains around 0.9 % manganese — and that manganese is the difference: it raises the tensile strength of the weld metal to 280 MPa and stabilises the microstructure.
This makes QuAlMg4,5Mn the wire for load-bearing AlMg structures where the seam has to be as strong as the sheet next to it — for example on AlMg4.5Mn itself, the standard material in shipbuilding and vehicle construction.
