QuAlMg3 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Aluminium AlMg3 / ER5754 (3.3536)
QuAlMg3 is a magnesium-alloyed aluminium filler metal to EN ISO 18273 S Al 5754 (AlMg3) · AWS SFA-5.10 ER5754 (mod.) · material no. 3.3536. With 3 % magnesium it belongs to the wrought side of aluminium: sheets, profiles, vessels — not castings.
Two properties define it: the weld metal is sea-water resistant, and it anodises to an almost matching colour. Wherever the seam must not stand out after anodising, there is no way around an AlMg wire — an AlSi filler would go dark there.
Recommended base materials
- AlMg wrought alloys: AlMg1, AlMg1.5, AlMg1.8, AlMg4.5, AlMg5, AlMg2Mn0.3
- AlMgSi alloys: AlMgSi0.7, AlMgSi0.8, AlMgSi1, AlMg1SiCu, E-AlMgSi
- AlMg casting alloys: G-AlMg3, G-AlMg5, G-AlMg10
Typical applications
- Repairs to anodised parts where the seam has to stay invisible
- Components exposed to sea water or weathering
- Sheets, profiles and vessels in AlMg and AlMgSi alloys
- Façade and visible parts in aluminium construction
Properties and advantages
- Anodises to a matching colour — the seam disappears in the anodised finish
- Sea-water resistant
- Considerably stronger than the AlSi range: Re 150 MPa · Rm 240 MPa · A 12 %
- Shielding gas argon; post-processing material-typical
Rod form advantage: Ideal for manual build-up welding with constant wire feed — also in hard-to-reach areas.
Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,3 mm – 0,8 mm.
