QuLPA-Fe10Cr Powder – Laser Cladding Powder Mould Steel 1.2311 / 1.2312 / 1.2738 – 27–38 HRC
QuLPA-Fe10Cr Powder – Laser Cladding Powder Mould Steel 1.2311 / 1.2312 / 1.2738 – 27–38 HRC
QuLPA-Fe10Cr is the laser cladding powder for heavily loaded mould cavities. It matches the quenched and tempered plastic mould steels 1.2311, 1.2312, 1.2162, 1.2738, 1.2764 and 1.2767 as well as the CrMo grades 42CrMo4 / AISI 4140.
What makes this powder usable in mould making is its post-processing behaviour: per the datasheet the deposit is EDM-machinable, texturable, polishable, chrome-platable, etchable, nitridable, temperable and hardenable — the repaired cavity can be treated exactly like the base material. 27–38 HRC.
Recommended base materials
- 1.2311, 1.2312, 1.2738 — plastic mould steels
- 1.2162, 1.2764, 1.2767
- 42CrMo4 / AISI 4140, 25CrMo4, AISI 4130
- 13CrMo 4 4, GS-17 CrMo5 5
Typical applications
- Modifications and repairs on mould cavities
- Heavily loaded plastic moulds
- Area cladding by laser metal deposition (LMD)
- Parts that are subsequently EDM-machined, etched or textured
Properties and advantages
- 27–38 HRC as deposited
- EDM-machinable, etchable, texturable — photo-etching and graining possible
- Polishable, chrome-platable, nitridable, temperable and hardenable
- Grain size 45–90 µm
Powder form: grain size 45 - 90 µm — for laser metal deposition (LMD).
