QuNi25 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Alloy 825 / 2.4858 (NiFeCr, ERNiFeCr-1)

QuNi25 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Alloy 825 / 2.4858 (NiFeCr, ERNiFeCr-1)

QuNi25 is a nickel-base wire for highly corrosion-resistant steels: DIN EN ISO 17274 S Ni 8065 · AWS A5.14 ERNiFeCr-1 · material no. ~2.4858 (Alloy 825).

The weld metal is fully austenitic and therefore highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting in chloride-bearing media — the two failure modes that defeat ordinary stainless steels in chemical plants. It is designed for exposure to sulphuric and phosphoric acid and is corrosion-resistant in sea water. Besides matching joints it suits dissimilar welds.

Recommended base materials

  • 2.4858 (Alloy 825), 2.4619
  • 1.4539 (904L), 1.4529
  • 1.4500, 1.4563
  • Dissimilar joints between these materials

Typical applications

  • Chemical plant construction — sulphuric and phosphoric acid
  • Components in chloride-bearing media (pitting risk)
  • Sea-water applications
  • Dissimilar joints between nickel-base alloys and stainless steel

Properties and advantages

  • Fully austenitic — resistant to stress corrosion cracking
  • Pitting-resistant in chloride-bearing media
  • Resistant to sulphuric and phosphoric acid, sea-water proof
  • Weld metal: Rm ~550 MPa · A ~30 %

Rod form advantage: Constant wire feed for manual repair welding on vessels and piping.

Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,6 mm.

Nickel based alloy for application to similar nickel based steels of Inc 625 or similar. This alloy is used in branches of the air and space as well as the chemical industry. The weld is distinguished by its long term corrosion resistance, stability against tension cracks and heat cracks. It has a high tensile strength and tenacity even at temperatures up to 1100°C and cold tenacity down to 196°C. Due to the alloy elements Mo and Nb in the NiCr matrix an unusually high fatigue resistance can be achieved.
