QuCu38 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Copper-Silver CuAg1 / 2.1211 – EDM Electrodes, Ampcoloy
QuCu38 is the silver-alloyed copper wire: EN ISO 24373 S Cu 1897 (CuAg1) · AWS ERCu · material no. 2.1211.
Its special case comes first in the datasheet: the repair of EDM electrodes. There the electrical conductivity must be preserved — a repaired electrode that conducts poorly erodes unevenly. The silver (1 %) refines the structure and raises service hardness through natural ageing without sacrificing conductivity. Also for Ampcoloy alloys. Per the datasheet the weld metal is viscous — typical for copper.
Recommended base materials
- Pure copper grades — in particular EDM electrodes
- Ampcoloy alloys
Typical applications
- Repair of EDM electrodes
- Build-up welding on Ampcoloy components
- Copper parts where conductivity matters
Properties and advantages
- High electrical conductivity — for EDM electrodes
- Ag 1 % → fine-grained structure
- Natural ageing raises service hardness
- 60 HB · Re 80 MPa · Rm 230 MPa · A 18 %
Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,6 mm.
