QuAlMg5 TIG Welding Wire – Aluminium AlMg5 / ER5356 (3.3556)

QuAlMg5 is the most widely used aluminium filler metal of all: EN ISO 18273 S Al 5356 (AlMg5) · AWS SFA-5.10 ER5356 · material no. 3.3556. With 5 % magnesium it covers virtually the entire AlMg and AlMgSi range — from sheet metal to extruded profiles.

The weld metal is sea-water resistant and anodises to an almost matching colour. When it is not clear which AlMg alloy is in front of you, QuAlMg5 is the safe choice.

Recommended base materials

  • AlMg wrought alloys: AlMg1, AlMg1.5, AlMg1.8, AlMg4.5, AlMg5, AlMg2Mn0.3
  • AlMgSi alloys: AlMgSi0.7, AlMgSi0.8, AlMgSi1, AlMg1SiCu, E-AlMgSi
  • AlMg casting alloys: G-AlMg3, G-AlMg5, G-AlMg10

  • The all-rounder for AlMg and AlMgSi structures
  • Repairs to anodised visible parts
  • Components in shipbuilding and exposed to weathering
  • Sheets, profiles, frames, vessels

Properties and advantages

  • Widest application range of the AlMg family — covers almost all AlMg and AlMgSi base materials
  • Sea-water resistant, anodises to a matching colour
  • Weld metal: Re 110 MPa · Rm 250 MPa · A 18 %
  • Shielding gas argon; post-processing material-typical

TIG advantage: For larger aluminium structures away from the laser — Ø 1.6–4.0 mm, considerably higher deposition per layer.

TIG form: for manual repair welding.
