QuMed4337 Rod – Laser Welding Wire ER312 / 1.4337 (29 9) – Medical and Dental
QuMed4337 is the 29-9 austenite for medical and dental technology: ER312 · 1.4337 · EN ISO 14343-A W-G 29 9.
Its high ferrite content makes it hot-crack resistant — which is why it is the wire for dissimilar joints and for hard-to-weld steels where other fillers crack. In instrument and dental work exactly this situation is common: different materials on one part, small welds, high demands on freedom from cracking.
What {code} is made for
- Joints between dissimilar steels — including mixed unalloyed and high-alloy grades
- Hard-to-weld steels where identical-type fillers crack
- Buffer layers beneath hard deposits — among others under QuFe20 for multi-layer build-up
- Cold- and hot-work tools (joints and buffering)
Typical applications
- Medical instruments — dissimilar joints
- Dental technology
- Hard-to-weld steels prone to cracking
- Buffer layers beneath harder build-ups
Properties and advantages
- High hot-crack resistance thanks to the ferrite-rich 29/9 austenite — the actual reason for this wire
- Scale-resistant to 1,150 °C, stainless (wet corrosion up to 300 °C)
- Good toughness at high yield strength: Re 600 MPa · Rm 800 MPa · A 20 %
- Tough joints between different steel alloys
- Post-processing: work-hardening hot and cold, chrome-platable, polishable, machinable
Rod form advantage: Ideal for manual build-up welding with constant wire feed — also when laying buffer layers in hard-to-reach places.
Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,8 mm.
