QuFe20 TIG Welding Wire – Hardfacing 53–58 HRC, Copper-Coated
QuFe20 TIG Welding Wire – Hardfacing 53–58 HRC, Copper-Coated
QuFe20 is a high wear-resistance hardfacing wire to DIN EN 14700 S Fe 6 for tools exposed to heavy abrasion and pressure under moderate impact loads and elevated service temperatures — typically slide faces, guideways and sealing edges. Achievable hardness: 53–58 HRC. Particularly good abrasion behaviour with glass-fibre-reinforced plastics.
Copper-coated. QuFe20 is the copper-coated version. The coating protects the wire against rust, which helps during longer storage and in humid workshop conditions. Material, hardness and application are identical to the uncoated version QuFe21; if no copper coating is wanted, that is the one to choose.
Recommended base materials
- 1.2082, 1.2083 — plastic mould steels
- 1.2311, 1.2312 — quenched and tempered mould steels
- 1.2343, 1.2344, 1.2367 — hot-work tool steels
- 1.2606, 1.2764, 1.2765, 1.2842 — other tool steels
Note: For multi-layer build-up, apply a buffer layer using QuFe65 or QuNi26.
Typical applications
- Slide faces and sliding areas on tools
- Guideways in tool and mould making
- Sealing edges and parting lines
- Wear protection on moulds for glass-fibre-reinforced plastics
- Build-up welding on parts under abrasion, pressure and elevated temperature
Properties and advantages
- Achievable hardness 53–58 HRC — depending on machining and weld layer
- High wear resistance against abrasion combined with pressure
- Designed for elevated service temperatures
- Good abrasion behaviour with glass-fibre-reinforced plastics
- Post-processing: excellent polishability, hardenable, nitridable, chrome-platable, CVD-coatable, machinable
TIG advantage: For large-area wear build-up away from the laser — Ø 1.0–3.2 mm, considerably higher deposition per layer.
TIG form: for manual repair welding.
