QuAlSi10 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Aluminium AlSi10Mg (3.2383)

QuAlSi10 is the identical-type filler metal for AlSi10Mg to EN ISO 18273 S Al Si10 (S AlSi10Mg) · material no. 3.2383. With 9–11 % silicon and 0.2–0.5 % magnesium it is matched to the most widely used aluminium die-casting material — and to AlSi10Mg parts from additive manufacturing, which use the same alloy.

The high silicon content makes the weld metal strong (Rm 140 MPa) and the melt flow tight — exactly right for filling cavities, pores and defects in die castings without losing the contour.

Recommended base materials

  • Aluminium-silicon alloys with approx. 10 % Si
  • AlSi10Mg die castings
  • AlSi10Mg parts from additive manufacturing (same alloy)

Typical applications

  • Filling cavities and pores in aluminium die castings
  • Repair and finishing of 3D-printed AlSi10Mg parts
  • Contour corrections on die-casting tools
  • Build-ups on housings, brackets, heat sinks

Properties and advantages

  • Identical-type to AlSi10Mg — seam and base material behave the same when anodising and reworking
  • Highest strength of the AlSi range: Re 70 MPa · Rm 140 MPa · A 4 %
  • Tight melt flow — good for near-contour build-up
  • Shielding gas argon; post-processing material-typical

Rod form advantage: Ideal for manual build-up welding with constant wire feed — also in hard-to-reach areas of castings.

Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,3 mm – 0,8 mm.
