QuCu80 Bobbin – Laser Welding Wire Aluminium Bronze CuMn13Al8 / 2.1367 – for Ampco Bronzes, 250 HB

QuCu80 Bobbin – Laser Welding Wire Aluminium Bronze CuMn13Al8 / 2.1367 – for Ampco Bronzes, 250 HB

QuCu80 is the strongest of the three aluminium bronzes: EN ISO 24373 S Cu 6338 (CuMn13Al8Fe3Ni2) · AWS A5.7 ERCuMnNiAl · DIN 8555 MSG 31 GZ 200 · material no. 2.1367. The weld metal reaches 250 HB — Rm 650 MPa.

Its home is mould inserts made of Ampco and Ampcoloy bronzes: these highly conductive tooling bronzes are used in die casting and plastic mould making because they dissipate heat quickly — and that is exactly where they crack and wear. Besides build-up and crack welding it suits cladding on cast iron and steel (e.g. drawing tools). Sea-water and cavitation resistant, with good sliding properties.

Recommended base materials

  • Cu-Al multi-component bronzes
  • Ampco and Ampcoloy alloys (mould inserts)
  • Cladding on cast iron and steel
  • Build-ups on grey iron, e.g. drawing tools

Typical applications

  • Ampco bronze mould inserts — build-up, crack repair, joining
  • Drawing tools and build-ups on cast iron
  • Components under sliding load
  • Sea water and cavitation-loaded components

Properties and advantages

  • 250 HB — the strongest of quada's three aluminium bronzes
  • Weld metal: Re 400 MPa · Rm 650 MPa · A 10 %

QuCu81 Bobbin Laser Welding Wire Aluminium Bronze CuAl8Ni2 / 2.0922 – Ductile, 140 HB

QuCu81 is the ductile one of the three aluminium bronzes: EN ISO 24373 S Cu 6327 (CuAl8Ni2Fe2Mn2) · material no. 2.0922. At 140 HB it is the softest — in return it offers 30 % elongation, three times that of QuCu80.That toughness is the reason to choose it: in dissimilar joints between CuAl bronze and steel, and in joints between differing materials generally, the seam is under permanent stress because both sides expand differently. Ductile weld metal absorbs that; strong weld metal cracks. Equally suited to cladding on steel and cast iron.
