QuMed4455 Rod – Stainless Laser Welding Wire 1.4455 (20 16 3 Mn L) – Non-Magnetisable
QuMed4455 is a special austenite to EN ISO 14343-A G/W 20 16 3 Mn L (filler material no.: 1.4455). The high manganese content of 7.5 % together with 15.5 % nickel stabilises the austenitic structure so completely that the weld metal stays non-magnetisable even after cold forming.
That is the reason to choose this wire: wherever a component has to remain magnetically neutral. Added to this is good resistance to nitric acid, which is why the wire is used in urea synthesis. Service range −196 °C to +400 °C.
Recommended base materials
- 1.3948, 1.3952, 1.3964 — non-magnetisable steels
- 1.4429, 1.4438 — high-alloy CrNiMo steels
- 1.4583 and similar
Typical applications
- Components that must remain magnetically neutral
- Urea synthesis and plants exposed to nitric acid
- Cryogenic components down to −196 °C
- Joints on low-carbon, corrosion-resistant steels
Properties and advantages
- Non-magnetisable — even after cold forming
- Resistant to nitric acid (urea synthesis)
- Cryogenic to −196 °C, low carbon (C 0.03 %)
- Weld metal: Re 400 MPa · Rm 600 MPa · A 30 %
Rod form advantage: Ideal for manual build-up welding with constant wire feed — also in hard-to-reach areas.
Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,6 mm.
