QuNi40 Bobbin – Laser Welding Wire Nickel NiTi3 / ERNi-1 (2.4155) – also Nickel-Steel & Grey Iron

QuNi40 is the titanium-alloyed nickel wire: EN ISO 18274 S Ni 2061 (NiTi3) · AWS A5.14 ERNi-1 · filler material no. 2.4155.

The 3.3 % titanium is what sets it apart from the pure QuNi29. Titanium binds nitrogen and thus suppresses porosity — precisely what is needed for nickel-to-steel dissimilar joints and for repairs on grey cast iron (GG-GJL), where gases migrate from the base material into the weld pool. For matching pure-nickel joints without such influence, QuNi29 is the simpler alternative.

Recommended base materials

  • 2.4060, 2.4061, 2.4066, 2.4068
  • Commercial pure nickel grades, LC nickel
  • Nickel-clad steels
  • Nickel-to-steel dissimilar joints
  • Cast iron (GG-GJL) — repairs possible to a limited extent

Typical applications

  • Pressure vessel and plant construction, chemical industry
  • Nickel-to-steel dissimilar joints
  • Grey iron repairs (GJL)
  • Food industry, energy sector

Properties and advantages

  • Ti 3.3 % — binds nitrogen, suppresses porosity
  • Suitable for nickel-to-steel dissimilar joints
