QuFe72 Bobbin – Laser Welding Wire Maraging Steel 1.6356 – Cobalt-Bearing, Age-Hardenable
QuFe72 is the cobalt-bearing maraging wire: EN 14700 S ZFe5 · DIN 8555 W/MSG 3-GZ-350-T · filler no. 1.6356. Ni 18 % · Co 12 % · Mo 4 % · Ti 1.6 % — and only 0.02 % carbon.
That missing carbon is precisely the trick: a maraging steel hardens not through carbon but through precipitation during age hardening. As welded, the deposit is therefore soft and readily machinable — you build up, machine comfortably, and harden afterwards (per the datasheet 3–4 h at 480 °C). The result is optimised resistance to hot wear and thermal cycling. For heavily loaded punching tools, cold shears, hot shear blades, aluminium die-casting moulds and cold forging dies.
