QuFe47 is a special material without a material number, developed for repairs and build-ups on ductile iron (spheroidal graphite iron, GJS). The weld metal reaches 54–57 HRC, about 55 HRC in the second layer.
Two properties make it special for cast iron: it is crack-safe even in multi-layer welding, and it works without a buffer layer — otherwise almost always required on cast iron, because the high carbon content hardens the fusion zone and makes it crack. Added to this is resistance to impact load, also at edges and corners, exactly where cast parts break out in service. For grey iron (GJL) and softer matching repairs, QuNi41 (NiFe) is the alternative.
