Qu819 Rod – Laser Welding Wire Cold-Work Tooling 1.2767 / 1.2721 / 1.2714 – 46–48 HRC
Qu819 is the build-up wire for cold-work tooling and plastic moulds: EN ISO 14700 S Fe 3 · 819BS · filler no. ~1.6773.
It matches the nickel-alloyed tool steels 1.2767 (X45NiCrMo4), 1.2721, the hammer steel 1.2714 (55NiCrMoV7) and 35NCD16 / 45NiCrMo18 / 60NiCrMo11. According to the datasheet its hallmark is the combination of high dimensional accuracy with high hardness and strength (46–48 HRC as welded) — exactly what a cavity or die needs when it is machined back to size after welding and then has to hold up in service.
Recommended base materials
- 1.2767 (X45NiCrMo4)
- 1.2721
- 1.2714 (55NiCrMoV7) — hammer steel
- 35NCD16, 45NiCrMo18, 60NiCrMo11 and similar
Typical applications
- Plastic moulds — cavities and parting edges
- Cold-work tooling
- Dies, cutting tools and hammer steels
- Parts that are machined back to size after welding
Properties and advantages
- 46–48 HRC as welded — hardness without post-weld heat treatment
- High dimensional accuracy per the datasheet
- Rm max. 912 MPa, A 12–19 %
- Machining behaviour typical for the material
Rod form advantage: Constant wire feed when building up parting edges and die cutting edges.
Rod form: Rod lengths 1000 mm and 333 mm, Ø 0,2 mm – 0,8 mm.
